Welcome Evening

On Sunday evening, the Welcome Party will be held in the Mensa, opposite the Lecture Hall Center. Food, beer, and soft drinks will be served.
Do not miss this opportunity to register (4.00 p.m. to 8.00 p.m.) before the official beginning of the conference and to meet people in an informal atmosphere.

Special Plenary Session with Prize Ceremony

After the Welcome address by representatives of DPG, EPS and local organizers, the Prime Minister of Saxony, Prof. Dr. Georg Milbradt, will give a speech.
During the following prize ceremony, the Agilent Technologies Europhysics Prize, the Walter-Schottky-Prize for Solid State Physics and the Gaede-Prize of German Vacuum Society will be awarded.

An entertaining musical program presented by the “Dresdner Salondamen” will accompany the ceremony.

Ekkehard Sieker:

“Einfachheit ist das Zeichen des Wahren“

The film reveals the life of Robert Wichard Pohl (1884-1976). This remarkable scientist pioneered in the field of experimental solid-state physics and got well known for his “Göttinger Vorlesungen” and a textbook for experimental physics. His aim was to emphasize the importance of physics for science and human culture and to spread scientific knowledge for the benefit of mankind.
The entrance is free.
